Volunteering

The Arts Society Cumbria encourages members to assist various arts or heritage organisations, such as museums, galleries, libraries or historic properties who may need help with the conservation or recording of their collections.

Currently we do not have any Volunteering projects running. However if you have an idea of some project that could help any arts organisation you know of to be in need of assistance, get in touch!

Young Arts

A project we have been running for a number of years now involves local north Cumbrian schools, who are invited to submit pupils’ artworks for public display in a local gallery exhibition space. In the past this has been at the Theatre by the Lake, Keswick, and at Carlisle Castle; in future this may take place at different exhibition spaces in Cumbria. In 2025 it will be held at Rheged, Penrith.

It is a true celebration of the achievements of young Cumbrian pupils in their school art projects.

Our 19 July to 30 August 2023 Exhibition was held in the Mezzanine and Upper Galleries of Theatre by the Lake Keswick, involving Cockermouth School, Keswick School, Appleby Grammar School, Austin Friars Independent School in Carlisle, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Penrith, and the James Rennie School for Special Needs in Carlisle. There was free entry to the galleries at the times of opening of the Theatre.
