Outings, Visits, Study Days and Holidays

We run occasional special events, and trips to places of particular art interest - of all sorts! Sometimes just a day visit, sometimes over several days including hotel accommodation and visits to a number of locations in the area. Friday 17th October to Monday 20th October 2025

4 days, 3 nights

Some of the highlights:
Alnwick Castle has been in the Percy family since 1309, when Henry Percy, great-great grandfather of Hotspur, purchased a typical Norman-style castle of motte and bailey form. Altered and extended over time, the castle contains one of the most important collections of fine and decorative art in the United Kingdom outside the Royal Collection: paintings including 16th century Old Masters of the Venetian School, furniture by important 17th, 18th century and 19th century cabinetmakers, and a ceramics collection comprising porcelain, principally of European manufacture such as Meissen, Sèvres, Paris, Chelsea and Minton, which can be seen throughout the State Rooms.

Beamish Museum - the living museum of the north, a huge site with exhibits of historic local cottages, shops and working industrial buildings, vehicles etc from 1820s Pockerley Old Hall, 1900s Town, Pit Village and Colliery, through to the 1950s Town and Farm.
