VISIT TO THE AUCKLAND PROJECT Thursday 07 May 2020

THE ARTS SOCIETY CUMBRIA

Special Interest Day

Visit to the Auckland Project, Bishop Auckland

on Thursday 7th May 2020

Auckland Castle was home for 900 years to the mighty Prince Bishops of Durham and is full of fascinating historical objects, beautiful artworks, stunning landscapes and  engrossing stories.  Opening over two years, the Auckland Project is a place that captures the imagination.  Centred in and around the Castle, it will also include a Castle cafe, Spanish Gallery, Faith Museum, Mining Art Gallery, re-imagined Walled Garden and Deer Park.

We shall have coffee on our arrival at 10.00 and be given the Auckland Pass which gives us entry to the Auckland Project.  Lunch in the Castle Cafe from 12.30 to 13.30:  soup, assorted sandwiches, tea or coffee.    We shall leave for Cumbria at 16.00.  This will give us ample time to explore the environs of Auckland Castle and the ancient centre of Bishop Auckland.

There will be a certain amount of walking.
